Germany and Japan are two of the world’s biggest energy consumers and at the same time leading industrial nations with innovative renewable technologies. Energy transition has become a reality in Japan and in Germany. A successful energy transition requires innovative and sustainable technologies as well as business models beyond energy generation itself. Products, applications and business models should also be sustainable and environmentally friendly. North Rhine-Westphalia has taken a lead in realizing the energy transition in Germany and has become one of the biggest R&D hubs and market for innovative and sustainable technologies. Japanes companies are also important participants in this ecosystem.
